DAIDALOS WP5
  Title: Integrated system evaluation
  Main technical focus of WP5:
WP5 was created with the aim of gathering the work from all other WPs (2-4) and check that they work all together, following the objectives of the whole Daidalos project. This process implies the integration of the results of those Work Packages, being this the main task of WP5.
Several typical scenarios are chosen in order to depict Daidalos in real life and assure that the results obtained do not turn away from the concepts that Daidalos is intended for.

The overall objectives can be described as follows:

  • Gather the results from the other work packages and evaluate them in order to fulfil Daidalos requirements.
  • Choose typical scenarios where Daidalos results can be shown and proved in "real life situations".
  • Planning and specifying the tests to be performed in such scenarios, according to the functions and requirements of the components developed by WP2-4. This includes installation of the devices, preparation of the tests in the sites, and so on.
  • Extract conclusions from the tests.

WP5 defines a complete set of rules and steps for developers, integrators and testers to follow during the project life cycle.

  WP5 activities

  • WP5.1. System planning
This WP is in charge of identifying the relevant integrated test beds, specification of the conformance tests (final tests before the audit by the European Comission) and supervision of the Integration-oriented Development.
  • WP5.2. System integration
From the results of Activity 5.1 (definition of testbeds) the integration is performed with the modules and components developed by WP2-4. These have to work all together, including the messages and protocols that are exchanged in the interfaces.
  • WP5.3. Execution and validation
This activity provides realistic user-level testing and validation, once the test sites have been prepared and integration has been achieved. The tests are executed with users who have typical technical abilities of the proposed customer base.
  • WP5.4. Evaluation, feedback and recommendation
From the results of the executed tests, conclusions are extracted in order to provide Phase 2 with the appropiate feedback.

In DAIDALOS Phase 2 there will be two new activities:

  • WP5.5. Public Concept Demonstrations
This is related to all public demonstrations performed in full real conditions.
  • WP5.6. Exploitation of results
This activity aims for the exploitation of the obtained results: software, hardware, etc... that can be used by other companies like network providers and telecom operators. This is done in parallel with public demonstrations, accompanied by market research.
