| Title: Pervasive services | |
| Main technical focus of WP4: | |
| WP4 pervasive services aims at developing a standards-based operational platform for pervasive services. Pervasive services are a new and fast-moving field of research where the focus is on simplifying user interaction with the myriad of electronic services and technologies. Main focus in this research area has been the interactional aspects of services, i.e. specific human-computer interaction issues. Daidalos WP4 focus on universal accessibility of an operator-driven platform that will facilitate building pervasive services or making existing services more user-friendly and pervasive. Activities covered in this WP include generic context management infrasturctures, generic personalization infrastructure, privacy protection mechanisms using the multiple virtual identity concept, and generic service management mechanisms such as discovery and composition. | |
| Key innovation and novel research in WP4 | |
| Following an operator-driven approach, WP4 innovates in the areas such as platforms for large-scale deployment of pervasive services across administrative domains, flexible runtime environments allowing dynamic deployment in large networks, integrated privacy protection in all communication, and flexible and distribution management of context information related to users. In addition, pervasiveness aspects of WP4 are strengthened (compared to state-of-the-art research) due to the integration of all the above innovations with real-world and large-scale network infrastructures spanning across administrative domains. | |
