Daidalos Summer School
Beyond 3G and Pervasiveness
University of Stuttgart, 28 – 31 July 2008
Start: 28 July 2008, 15:00 End: 31 July 2008, 15:00
Purpose of the Summer School
The purpose of the Daidalos Summer School is to provide a combination of
theoretical knowledge and hands-on information about "Beyond 3G and pervasive
architectural concepts" to students in the areas of telecommunications
engineering and mobile computing.
The EU-funded Integrated Project Daidalos has undertaken research on Beyond
3G (B3G) and pervasive architectural concepts and components with an
operator-driven perspective. Among the new research topics and innovations
are: federation in diversified and fragmented markets; context-aware
mobility management, localized mobility, multi-homing QoS; cross-layer
context and identity management tools, security and privacy, service
discovery and composition, personalisation, APIs and deployment schemes for
pervasive applications.
The work of Daidalos has been based on five key concepts:
- MARQS (Mobility Management, A4C [Authentication, Authorisation
,Accounting, Auditing and Charging], Resource Management, QoS and
Security)
- VID (Virtual Identity)
- USP (Ubiquitous and Seamless Pervasiveness)
- SIB (Seamless Integration of Broadcast), and
- Federation
