Daidalos is about radically improving usability of European telecommunication technologies by integrating mobile and broadcast communications, and, following a user-centred scenario-based approach, to deliver ubiquitous end-to-end services across heterogeneous technologies.

The theoretical work will be verified by the implementation of two scenarios: the "Daidalos Mobile University" scenario and the "Daidalos Automotive scenario".

The second Daidalos workshop will discuss the convergence of mobile and broadcast environments. Broadcast technologies, e.g. DVB-T, are currently gaining increasing momentum for the provision of mobile telecommunication and information services. The convergence of mobile communications and broadcast environments can be a fruitful symbiosis, making up for the individual deficiencies either has, e.g. for the missing return channel in DVB-T, or for the - compared to DVB - lower data rate in GSM and UMTS. A convergence will also enable new opportunities for services and business.

After two years of work Daidalos has achieved a number of significant results in this area. The second Daidalos public workshop will give an overview of the major results in this area by presentations.

If you want to be up-to-date with recent developments on broadcast - mobile networks convergence and get first-hand results from Daidalos research you should not miss this event.
The workshop will be held in the picturesque city of Heidelberg on the  Eurescom premises. Participation is free, but registration is mandatory. Only those who are registered will be admitted. The maximum number of  participants is 80.
